Jeromie Damon Sentenced to 50 Years to Life in State Prison for Fatal Bar Shooting

On June 16, 2025, Jeromie Damon was sentenced by the Honorable Judge Barerra in Department 9A to 50 years to life in state prison. The sentencing followed the denial of Damon’s motion for a new trial.

Damon was previously found guilty by a jury of the following charges:

• Penal Code 187(a): First-Degree Murder
    + Penal Code 12022.53(d): Firearm Enhancement (Causing Great Bodily Injury or Death)
• Penal Code 245(a)(2): Assault with a Firearm (Second Victim)
    + Penal Code 12022.5(a): Firearm Use Enhancement

The charges stem from a shooting that occurred on March 20, 2022, during a verbal altercation at the crowded Ave Bar. During the dispute, Damon pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired a single round into the chest of the first victim, who later died from his injuries. The same bullet exited the first victim and struck a second male victim in the arm.

“This senseless act of violence claimed one life and forever altered another,” said District Attorney Ron Freitas. “Today’s sentence ensures the defendant is held accountable and reinforces our office’s commitment to prosecuting violent crimes to the fullest extent of the law.”
