San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas announced that Judge Lance Jacot sentenced defendant Roy West, 55, of Ripon, to 55 years to life in state prison for a multi-count child molestation case.
A jury found Roy West guilty of the following charges:
• One count of §288.7(a)

• Three counts of §288(a)
• One count of §311.4(c)
He had previously pled to one count of §311.11(a).
“Today’s sentencing restores a sense of safety for our community and honors the immense courage of the victims who came forward,” said District Attorney Ron Freitas. “We stand with those harmed, fiercely committed to protecting our children and ensuring their voices lead to lasting justice.”
District Attorney Freitas expresses deep appreciation to the Ripon Police Department for their tireless investigation. He also praises former Deputy District Attorney Philip Dodgen for his determined prosecution that secured the conviction and Deputy District Attorney Scott Porter for his dedicated efforts on post-trial issues and the sentencing hearing.
This outcome reflects the collective efforts of law enforcement, prosecutors, and our community to hold offenders accountable and protect our most vulnerable.
