San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office Announces Arraignment of Maurice Brownfield on Multiple Felony Theft Charges
The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office announces the arraignment of Maurice Brownfield; a repeat offender charged with seven felony counts stemming from 25 individual acts of theft across San Joaquin County. The thefts, occurring between June and October 2025, targeted major retailers including Home Depot in Tracy, Stockton, and Lodi, as well as Target stores in Stockton and Lodi, and Food 4 Less, with stolen merchandise totaling nearly $10,000.
The charges reflect a pattern of criminal activity averaging more than one theft per week. At the arraignment, Judge Martinez set bail at $310,000.
“Maurice Brownfield’s spree of thefts across our county has come to an end,” said District Attorney Ron Freitas. “My office will protect our community’s economic vitality and ensure accountability for those who undermine it.”
Last month, District Attorney Ron Freitas participated in proactive store walks alongside several retailers and their loss prevention staff, reinforcing his office’s dedication to collaborating with businesses to prevent retail theft and enhance community safety.
Brownfield’s next court date is scheduled for October 24, 2025.
