The San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office announces that Muhammed Rehan, a Lodi-based tire service business owner, has pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor counts of illegal dumping under California Penal Code 374.3(a).
Rehan was responsible for illegally disposing of used tires behind the sound wall near Highway 99 and Hammer Lane over an extended period. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) conducted a thorough investigation, utilizing surveillance cameras to identify and apprehend the suspect. Rehan was caught in the act on three separate occasions, leading to the charges filed by the District Attorney's Office.
"Illegal dumping is a blatant disregard for our environment and the well-being of our community," said District Attorney Ron Freitas. "We will not tolerate such actions, and I applaud CHP for investigating this case and Chief DDA Jeff Derman for ensuring justice was served."
The court imposed fines of $2,000 per count, totaling $6,000 because the dumping involved a "commercial quantity" of waste.
The District Attorney's Office thanks the California Highway Patrol for their diligent investigation.
