On February 26, 2026, Christopher Gene Garcia pleaded guilty to multiple felony sexual assault charges involving two minor victims. Garcia entered guilty pleas to the following charges:

• Count 5 – Violation of Penal Code § 288(b)(1) (Lewd Act Upon a Child by Force) involving victim Jane G. Doe – 8 years
• Count 6 – Violation of Penal Code § 261(a)(2) (Forcible Rape) involving victim Jane S. Doe – 11 years
• Count 7 – Violation of Penal Code § 288(b)(1) (Lewd Act Upon a Child by Force) involving victim Jane S. Doe – 8 years

 Pursuant to the plea, Garcia will be sentenced to a total of 27 years in state prison. Sentencing is scheduled for April 20, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Department 8C.

Case Facts: Jane S. Doe, born October 1, 1995, is the defendant’s former sister-in-law. When she was 13 years old and living in the same household as her sister and the defendant, Garcia entered her bedroom around Easter of 2008, gagged her to prevent her from screaming, and raped her. The abuse continued from the time she was 13 until she was 17 years old. Jane S. Doe did not disclose the abuse at the time. Jane G. Doe, born May 11, 2009, is the defendant’s daughter. Beginning on or about her fifth birthday in May 2014, Garcia began sexually abusing her. During her Child Advocacy Center interview and testimony, Jane G. Doe described numerous separate incidents of sexual abuse, including instances where Garcia forced her to touch him. In April 2024, then 14-year-old Jane G. Doe disclosed that the abuse had begun when she was five years old. After learning of her niece’s disclosure, Jane S. Doe reported that she, too, had been sexually abused by Garcia as a minor. On May 27, 2024, a pretext phone call was conducted between Jane S. Doe and Garcia. During the call, Garcia initially denied assaulting her when she was 13 years old, claiming she was “way older” when he slept with her. He later acknowledged remembering her at age 13 and stated he had been “falling in love with” her at that time. Following his arrest and after being advised of his Miranda rights, Garcia initially denied any sexual contact with Jane S. Doe. When confronted with portions of the pretext call in which he admitted to sexual conduct, he claimed he did not know how many times he had sex with her because he was drunk. He later stated that the first time he had sex with Jane S. Doe was in 2007 and that he believed she was 21 years old. Jane S. Doe would have been twelve or thirteen years old at the time.

“These crimes represent a devastating betrayal of trust and a calculated exploitation of children who should have been safe in their own home. The defendant preyed upon the very relationships that were meant to protect them. I commend the extraordinary courage it took for both survivors to come forward and speak the truth. Because of their bravery, this defendant will be held accountable and sentenced to a lengthy prison sentence. Our office will never waver in its commitment to protecting children, pursuing justice, and standing firmly with survivors.”
