San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas announced today that a 29-year-old Stockton man has been sentenced to 32 years in state prison for the sex trafficking of multiple minors from a local foster youth residential facility. In addition to his prison term, the defendant will be required to register as a sex offender under Penal Code 290 for the rest of his life.
At the sentencing hearing, Deputy District Attorney Lisa Mann argued for the maximum sentence, emphasizing the defendant’s complete lack of remorse and his refusal to take any responsibility for his actions. The defendant maintained he had done nothing wrong and attempted to delay the proceedings by claiming a change in his mental state and requesting new counsel, claims the judge dismissed as a transparent delay tactic.
In imposing the sentence, the court noted that the defendant was not a passive participant but a central figure who facilitated commercial sex activities. The judge highlighted the extreme vulnerability of the victims, specifically a 12-year-old girl, and pointed out that the defendant used his position as a much older adult to lead the trafficking of several minors. Evidence further illustrated this predatory intent, showing he had visited websites detailing "pimpology" to further his criminal conduct.
"This defendant is a career predator who sought out the most vulnerable children to exploit for his own gain," said District Attorney Ron Freitas. "Even when faced with the devastating reality of his actions, he refused to show a shred of humanity or regret. This 32-year sentence ensures that a man who views children as commodities is removed from our streets. My office will never stop fighting to protect our children from those who seek to break them."
